Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and reigning UFC light heavyweight title holder Daniel Cormier are both teammates at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA). That being said, Rockhold has been training outside of the camp as of late.
Specifically, the former champion is putting in his practice on the same mats as light heavyweight contender Volkan Oezdemir. With Oezdemir now set to face off against Cormier for the light heavyweight title at UFC 220. Rockhold’s decision to continue training at the Florida gym has caused a stir among fight fans.
Speaking on the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s latest “UFC 220 Embedded: Vlog Series – Episode 2”, Rockhold decided to address the situation.
“I’ve been training here since before Volkan. Volkan has done well for himself. We are all professionals in this game. People run their mouths. People talk, but I don’t play a factor.
“Volkan is okay with it. D.C. is okay with it. And, everyone knows what’s going to happen. D.C. is coming to wrestle and Volkan is coming to strike. May the best man win.”
