Professional wrestling fans were in for a surprise over the weekend when former UFC bantamweight champion and trailblazing MMA megastar Ronda Rousey made her surprise WWE debut.
The former UFC title holder appeared at WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view that took place in Philadelphia on Sunday night, Jan. 28. Following the conclusion of the night’s first women’s Royal Rumble match, Rousey shocked the crowd and made her walk to the ring.
The former UFC bantamweight champion was decked out in “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s leather jacket and used the WWE legend’s classic flame font on the Titantron. The WWE snagged an interview with Rousey directly after the event to get the former fighter’s thoughts on the matter.
“I really don’t know. I don’t know how to process this.” Rousey said. “This is not like something I do everyday. This is very different than fighting.
“I haven’t walked into anywhere to enjoy the event. I walk into places to enjoy the result. It was a real pleasure to be able to soak up and enjoy and savor every single second.”
