Former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald had offered a comment on the “sad” state of the mixed martial arts world, with heated words concerning UFC’s Colby Covington.
Covington stirred up controversy among fight fans and fighters alike when he referred to Brazil as a “dump” and the country’s citizens as “filthy animals” during his post-fight interview at UFC Sao Paulo. The fighter had just earned a victory over Brazil’s own Demian Maia, before offering heated words to the Sao Paulo crowd.
Speaking on The Ragin’ MMA Podcast, Rory MacDonald offered his thoughts on the state of MMA. The former UFC fighter even had some words concerning Covington.
“I guess the low part of the MMA world would probably be Colby Covington, just the fact that he is getting so much attention,” MacDonald said. “It doesn’t get to me too much, but it’s definitely a sad time for the MMA world.”
Rory MacDonald is now set to face off against reigning Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima at Bellator 192. The event goes down Saturday night, Jan. 20, inside The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.
