Well, it’s official. Boxing superstars Canelo Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin are set to throw down in perhaps one of the year’s most highly anticipated rematches.
Canelo Alvarez and “GGG” first faced off back in Sept. of last year, with the two pugilist warriors ultimately going the distance in an all out battle. However the match ended in a controversial draw, leaving many boxing fans unsatisfied with the fight’s result.
HBO announced on Monday that Alvarez and Golovkin are now set to meet inside the squared circle for their rematch on Cinco de Mayo. A official venue has yet to be decided, though the leading choice is likely the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
Canelo Alvarez is a a three-time world champion in two weight classes. Gennady Golovkin wields the WBC, IBF, IBO middleweight and WBA super middleweight titles.
