UFC heavyweight world champion Stipe Miocic recently defended his UFC world title for a record breaking third time.
“The Baddest Man On The Planet” did so against heavy UFC favorite Francis Ngannou.
Ngannou was the odds favorite to win the fight, and the UFC had put all their promotional might behind the African knockout artist. Stipe though, had other plans, and he took out his frustrations on the challenger, and delivered a career defining performance.
At the end of the fight, Miocic would not allow UFC president Dana White to place the belt on him, and it was the biggest post-fight storyline coming out of the UFC’s first pay-per-view of the New Year.
Now, in a new interview with Ariel Helwani, Miocic broke down that series of events, in a little more detail. Even stating that Dana White apologized over and over again… Although he didn’t
Check it out:
“Well, like I said in the post fight (press conference), my coach respects me, and I respect him. There’s nothing more to be said.”
“It’s between me and my coach, you’ll never know. It’s a secret.”
“I have talked to Dana [since the fight]. He apologized over and over again…”
“[Laughs] No he didn’t… He didn’t apologize. Nah, he said congratulations for the fight. Offered me the TUF coaching stint and I thanked him very much for the opportunity.”
Helwani pushed the champ to elaborate on his first encounter with White, and explain what really happened with the belt, but the champ denied the MMA Journalist access to his mindest.
No, [we didn’t talk about it]. I don’t want to talk about this, next question.
“I’m always going to be happy no matter how I’m treated.”
“We’ll figure it out man. I want to keep you guessing. I’m giving you teasers so you keep wanting more.”
