UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is on a warpath to unify his title. Now “El Cucuy” is back and the fighter is hinting to having possibly booked a fight.
It has been a long road to the interim title for Tony Ferguson. The fighter was initially set to face off against top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 209, but the fight never came to fruition.
Nurmagomedov failed to appear to the weigh-ins, having been rushed to the hospital for weight management issues. As a result, the fight was cancelled.
“El Cucuy” would go on to fight Kevin Lee for the interim title at UFC 216, earning a third round submission victory over the fighter. Since then, Ferguson has been whittling down at reigning lightweight champion Conor McGregor over social media with the phrase “#DefendorVacate.”
This time around, Ferguson has decided to take to social media to hint at a possible fight in his future. Over Twitter, Ferguson stated:
“‘True Champ Defends’ Back-2-Work @ufc @paradigmsm #TonyFergusonMMA #SnapDownCity SnapJitsu™ My Mat MF’ers #DefendorVacate -TheeChamp.”
