UFC Fighter Who Set Up GoFundMe Getting Shamed By Fellow UFC Fighters

UFC heavyweight Timothy Johnson is getting some heat from fellow UFC fighters for setting up a GoFundMe crowd sourcing service for his cornermen.

Timothy Johnson is set to face off against Marcelo Golm at UFC Fight Night 125. The event goes down Feb. 3 in Belem, Brazil. However, Johnson has run into a bit of an issue.

In a recent social media post, Johnson posted a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising money.

“Everyone knows I’m a Last minute guy, but I had a couple sponors not contribute this time around and am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Anything helps as dawn is approaching. Thanks in advance and please share.”

On the GoFundMe page, Johnson revealed that he currently can not afford to fly two of his cornermen to the event. The GoFundMe states:

“As many know the UFC has me traveling around the world for fights. What most people don’t know is they only pay for 2 tickets. Sponsorship money is tight and had a few not contribute to this trip. So I’m asking for your help in the last minute ditch effort to help get my other two coaches to Brazil for my fight, as this will be going towards their flights. Any extra will be donated to wounded warriors or a similar donation. Thanks for your time and support.”

Professional fighters have since begun offering some harsh criticism concerning Johnson’s GoFundMe account. Among them, retired ONE champion Ben Askren and UFC’s Jessica-Rose Clark have come forward with statements on the matter.

UFC’s Al Iaquinta however had nicer words for the fighter.
