Three women have decided to challenge a New Hampshire city ordinance that is prohibiting public nudity. Specifically, the women are are fighting for their right to be topless and they are taking it to all the way to the state’s highest court.
As reported by abc-7.com, Heidi Lilley, Kia Sinclair and Ginger Pierro were each ticketed for being topless in Weirs Beach on Memorial day weekend back in 2016. After having their legal motion to dismiss the case denied, the three individuals have decided to appeal the case in the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
The three women are asking for the case to be dismissed by invalidating the city’s ordinance. The case is expected to be heared Feb. 1.
“The law in the state of New Hampshire is that it is legal for a woman to go topless, so we’re trying to get the town of Laconia to recognize and to stay with the state,” Lilley said. “The town ordinance, in our opinion, is not constitutional. We’re hoping the Supreme Court will see that.”
