There’s a new surge of talent entering the UFC, and these new prospects are African born.
The fighting scene in Africa has been around for decades, and it’s just recently that fighters are making their way into the UFC and causing a major impact.
Francis Ngannou is the most notable African import to make a heavy splash in the UFC, but the hard hitting knockout artist is not alone.
As recent as this past weekend, Nigerian born Israel Adesanya expanded on his unbeaten record with a dominant victory in Australia. He’s now 12-0 all victories coming via knockout.
If the buck stopped there, there would be no point in running this article, but it doesn’t.
Another Nigerian born fighter in Kamura Usman is on the cusp of greatness in the UFC’s welterweight division. The fighter is on an 11 fight winning streak, and has looked dominant in every single one of his UFC bouts.
It’s no surprise though, as the Nigerian fight scene is a brutal one, with deep roots.
