Robert Whittaker has come forward to call out former opponent Yoel Romero. This time, Whittaker has a specific date and event in mind.
UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has yet to defend his title. The fighter earned his belt after Georges St-Pierre decided to vacate the title. Consequently, Whittaker was upgraded from interim champion to the undisputed title holder.
Whittaker was set to make his first title defense against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221. However, Whittaker was forced to pull out of the event after suffering an injury.
As a result, Rockhold went on to face Yoel Romero at the event. Romero ultimately earned a knockout victory over his opponent, as well as a shot at the middleweight title.
Whittaker earned a unanimous decision victory over Romero back at UFC 213, earning Whittaker his interim title. Now the reigning champion has taken to Instagram to call out Romero once again.
This time, Whittaker wants to face the fighter at UFC 225. The event will take place June 9 in Chicago, Illinois and will be available live on pay-per-view.
