UFC President Dana White has been somewhat less than clear as to the current state of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title. Conor McGregor earned the strap back in 2016 after finishing Eddie Alvarez.
With “Notorious” having not defended his title or stepped foot inside the octagon at all since, a title fight has been arranged between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov for later this year.
Tony Ferguson is the reigning interim champion of the division, with Khabib being the top contender bellow him. During a press conference, Dana White revealed that the two mixed martial arts warriors will be facing off for the undisputed title.
With that in mind, the UFC president did not respond when asked if Conor McGregor has been stripped of his belt. Now “Notorious” has come forward with a defiant message over the recent news.
As reported by express.co.uk, McGregor stated:
“Them belts are in me gaff. In my home. So, good luck to anyone trying to come to my home an take those belts.”
