Looking to bounce back from the savage beating she took in her last Bellator bout (See above), Boxing champion Heather Hardy hit the scales today at the official Bellator 194 early morning weigh-ins and missed weight.
This infraction though, was only brought to light after the fact, and due to the commissions error in reporting her missed weight, the female MMA fighter has been fined 20% of her fight purse.
The boxing star turned MMA Fighter only missed weight by a quarter of a pound, and in the state of Connecticut, athletes are traditionally given two-hours to cut any additional pounds needed after their first weigh-in attempt.
Hardy though, missed out on this opportunity, thanks to a brutal misunderstanding on her first weigh in attempt.
Hardy’s opponent hit the nail on the head right at 125 pounds. Hardy’s first attempt was listed at 126.2, and the commissioner waived her off and said her weight was good.
In doing so, Hardy immediately started the rehydration process, unknowing that her opponent’s camp would cause a fuss about the quarter of a pound.
This resulted in Hardy not being able to shed the extra weight, which likely could have been done by simply disrobing and using the towel.
Instead, she has to suck it up and give 20% of her purse to her opponent.
The rest of the Bellator fighters all made their contracted weight.
