UFC President Dana White has allegedly been underselling the superstar status of Nate Diaz through the years. With the Stockton, California native now hinting to an octagon return, mixed martial arts veteran and grappling phenom Jake Shields has come forward to set the record straight on Diaz’s rightful place as a UFC superstar.
ADCC medalist and former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields is a member of the highly respected team of combat sports warriors known as the Skrap Pack, alongside the UFC superstar Nate Diaz himself. Speaking in a recent interview with MMAnytt.se, Shields provided his thoughts on Diaz and UFC President Dana White.
“He’s a huge star.” Shields said, discussing Nate Diaz. “He wants to get paid, so hopefully Dana will realize that the fans want to see Nate and then pay him. He’s not being unreasonable. He just wants a piece of money.”
“Realistically, we all know Nate is a huge star.” Shields continued. “Dana will say he’s not. Dana has been saying Nate is not a star for years, but he’s probably the second biggest star in the sport right now.”
