The UFC returned to action last night in Belem, Brazil. But, they didn’t escape the city without some controversy.
In the night’s co-main event, former UFC title challenger Valentina Shevchenko put on the most dominant performance in UFC history, landing 217 strikes to her opponent’s 1.
The bout was eventually stopped in round 2, when her opponent tapped out while getting completely mauled.
UFC president Dana White, was rightfully upset with the referee’s decision to allow the fight to continue, making the fighter stop her own fight after a horrific one-sided beatdown.
The UFC boss was so upset, that he took to his official Instagram account and called for referee Mario Yamasaki’s lifetime ban from the UFC cage.
Here’s Dana’s original post:
Priscilla Cachoeira, you showed so much heart and toughness in that fight. I’m honored to have you fight in the UFC. Unfortunately the ref is there to protect you and Mario DID NOT do that. This isn’t his first disgusting performance in the octagon. Another unfortunate thing is that i can’t do anything about I️t only the Brazilian commission can and i am hoping after this scary, incompetent showing he hopefully will never set foot in that Octagon again. Strikes landed was 230-3.
What troubles a lot of people about Dana White’s statement above, is not that he’s wrong, it’s that the UFC likely should have never paired Valentina with a UFC newcomer in the first place.
It was a clear mistake, and when fans took to Dana’s Instagram comments to say as much, he got triggered, and jumped all over them.

@deanski24 you goofy lookin fuck u think she was defending herself??? No that’s called HEART!!!! Which is apparently boners
For the MORONS says it’s her UFC debut……it’s the entire divisions debut. There will be Fights like this until the entire division starts to weed out who belongs and who doesn’t. That’s why u need good officials who stop fights when they need to be stopped!!!!!!
