It was recently revealed that UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway has pulled out of his headlining title fight against Frankie Edgar for UFC 222. Rumors quickly began to spread that UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw and former title holder Cody Garbrandt were being targeted for a replacement match up.
“No Love” first faced off against Dillashaw in 2017, almost finishing the fighter in the first round. However, Dillashaw managed to survive the onslaught and earn a stoppage later in the fight.
However, Dillashaw has since declined the fight offer. Taking to social media, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has reported a statement from the fighter. Within the message, Dillashaw claims he can not accept the fight due to having a five-week old son. The fighter also revealed that he has not been training and is not currently in California, the home of his fight camp.
Spoke to @TJDillashaw. UFC asked him to accept a rematch against Cody Garbrandt to headline 222. Here’s what he had to say about it. pic.twitter.com/esl4dBRYXe

Team Alpha Male warrior Cody Garbrandt has since taken to Twitter to offer his own response to the news.
“My wife will be expecting anytime during that fight week, I just started to be able to use my right hand, how many excuses do you have @TJDillashaw ??”
