Joe Rogan Reacts To The Jon Jones Quilty Verdict

Yesterday in his California State Athletic Commission disciplinary hearing, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones had his license to fight revoked and was fined $205,000.00, for his recently failed drug test for steroids.

Prior to this event, the Jones camp was optimistic that their fighter would return to action this year, and regain his championship status.

After what is being called a disaster of a defense, that saw the fight camp’s expert witness admit to being paid nearly $400.00 per hour to be there, and cite a forum post from bodybuilding.com as his basis for Jon’s argument, the state would find Jones guilty of using performance enhancing drugs.

Jones will now face the people at USADA to see just how much trouble he is in.

USADA is expected to decide on the final punishment of Jon Jones sometime within the next 60 days. Under their guidelines, Jon Jones faces up to a six year ban from the sport.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan is a Jon Jones believer, and has taken to his Instagram with his reaction to Tuesday’s verdict.

I completely agree with this post. Really well put. I’ve seen a lot of really talented fighters in my years of calling fights, and Jon stands out as something special even in a group of the greats. As @davidgoggins so perfectly put it, he is “uncommon amongst uncommon people.”

I really hope he gets through this latest setback and returns with a vengeance.

No matter how many times he falls short outside of the cage, Jon will always be one of the greatest combat sports athletes of all time. Jones is unbeaten in twenty three fights, including eleven title fights and only one rematch. Through a run that spanned eight years, Jon defeated the best fighters his division had to offer, in dominate fashion, including victories over five former champions and two wins over the current champion Daniel Cormier. Jon Jones is an incomparable phenom inside the cage. When Jon fights he is the perfect intersection between reckless and technical – between striker and grappler – fast and strong – calm and overeager. Jon finds the perfect medium in every aspect of a fight and when he is at his peak can become a flawless martial artist. Every sport has a guy, the benchmark, ’the one’ – for golf it will always be Tiger Woods – Basketball Michael Jordan – the list goes on with one main star coming to mind for almost every sport. Jon Jones was on his way to being that guy for Mixed Martial Arts. All he had to do was keep going and not get in his own way and he would have been an icon. The unfortunate nature of life is such that when exceptional people, the outliers, the greatest of all time types, obtain perfection in their art – it usually means they are likely to fall short in most other areas of their life. From what he has shown us, this seems to be the case with Jon Jones. From here we can only speculate what is next for Jon. The only thing that we know for sure is that the best thing for Jon i
