One UFC Fighter To Have Near 20 Pound Advantage, Breaks Catchweight Agreement, Tonight In Brazil

Scheduled for tonight’s main card of the UFC event in Belem, Brazil, one fighter missed weight by five pounds during the official UFC weigh-ins.

And this wasn’t his first mishap with the UFC scales, having missed weight for four of his last seven bouts.

The fighter in question is Brazil’s Michel Prazeres, and even though he drastically missed weight, his opponent Desmond Green agreed to fight him anyways, but under new terms.

With the lightweight bout moved to a catchweight of 160 pounds, Green’s only stipulation was that his opponent not weigh more that 173 pounds on fight night.

Prazeres agreed, the UFC agreed, and the fight was scheduled to go on under these new terms.

Now, here we are, approximately one hour away from when these two are scheduled to fight, and it has been revealed that the habitual weight misser didn’t adhere to this agreement and is currently 180 pounds.

Green admits that he is 163 pounds tonight, and as a result the Brazilian will have a 17 pound weight advantage against the American lightweight fighter.

Green spoke out about this crazy situation, with a statement and video.

As everyone knows my opponent missed weight by 5lbs, this was his 4th time in 7 fights missing weight, so I gave a stipulation that he could not be over 173 today, I just found out he is 180 currently, I am still taking this fight ? because I am a company man @danawhite @seanshelby @mickmaynard2 @ufc also I didn’t come all the way to Brazil to not perform, with that being said #watchmework Savages do what Savages do.
