Roy Nelson Wants Bellator Tournament Alternate Slot, So He Can Beat Complaining Mitrione

The rivalry between Bellator heavyweights Roy Nelson and Matt Mitrione is now beginning to boil over. Most recently, “Big Country” has decided to take to social media to announce his interest in being an alternate for the Bellator tournament in hopes of facing Mitrione once again.

Matt Mitrione avenged his loss to Roy Nelson from their UFC days at the recent Bellator 194 event with a majority decision victory. Following the win, Mittrione offered some heated words concerning “Big Country.

Mitrione claimed that Nelson attempted to use the cage in the final round of their fight to cheat his way to a victory and that something allegedly occurred between the fighters backstage. Now Nelson has come forward to reveal that he wants another crack at the fighter following the recent statement.

Mitrione and Nelson competed as part of the new Bellator heavyweight tournament grand prix. The winner of the tournament will be crowned the new Bellator heavyweight champion. While Nelson has been knocked out of the brackets, the fighter would now like to be an alternate for the tournament in hopes of facing Mitrione again.

Responding to a fan over Twitter, Nelson stated:

“That why if it ever happens again it won’t be the same out come. I thought I was upset…. I lost. But who know maybe earn an alternate position and run it back!”
