The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Austin, Texas tonight, Feb. 18, for UFC Fight Night 126. Fight fans are pouring into the Frank Erwin Center to see the exciting fight card go down, but the UFC results from the latest fight of the night can be seen right here.
Welterweights Thiago Alves and Curtis Millender are continuing the great night of fights with a brutal octagon war for division supremacy. Now the two mixed martial arts warriors are stepping into the octagon to put on a show for the Austin crowd.
Millender and Alves started things off at a slower pace. The two fighters were seemingly looking to gauge their opponent’s reach and power early in the round.
With three minutes left in the round, things began to heat up. Millender started walking down his opponent and pouring on the pressure.
However, Alves was not looking to back down. The fighter began offering Millender a series of precise counter strikes.
Millender rocked Alves with a right hand, but the fighter quickly recovered from the blow. However, Millender later dropped the fighter with another brutal strike.
Alves made his back to his feet, but was seemingly still wobbling and dazed from the strike. The fighter then locked in a takedown over Millender in the final moments of the round, offering Alves a chance to survive.
It was seemingly a dominant round for Millender.
The second round kicked off at a faster pace. Alves appeared determined to start the round on his terms.
The fighter began putting pressure on Millender, with Millender countering with swift jabs. With two minutes left in the round, Alves began to string together more complex striking combinations.
However, Millender kept his cool and continued to counter with stiff jabs. Millender then landed a brutal knee to the head of his opponent that dropped Alves to the canvas. The referee called a stop to the contest.
