The UFC Releases Official Statement On Not Allowing UFC Orlando Fighter To Cut Weight

It was recently reported that UFC on FOX 28 will now be short one match up. Now the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has come forward with a statement on the matter.

UFC competitors Gilbert Burns and Olivier Aubin-Mercier were initially set to face off on the fight card, but the bout has since been removed. Burns was reportedly pulled from the match up after not being permitted by the UFC medical staff to cut weight.

Here is the UFC’s official statement:

“Saturday’s UFC Fight Night bout between Gilbert Burns and Olivier Aubin-Mercier has been removed from the card at Amway Center in Orlando. Upon his arrival, the UFC medical team determined that it would be unsafe for Burns to cut additional weight necessary to meet the 156-pound limit. The card will proceed as scheduled with twelve fights.”

UFC on FOX 28 is set to see Josh Emmett face off against Jeremy Stephens in the night’s main event. The fight card will take place Feb. 24 inside the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.
