Undefeated mixed martial arts phenom Brian Ortega shocked the world last week when he finished former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar within the first round. Now the fighter has come forward to reveal that he has big plans for his fighting future.
Brian Ortega faced off against “The Answer” on short notice at UFC 222, co-headlining the night’s event with his octagon war against the former champion. Edgar had never been finished in his UFC career prior to UFC 222.
However, Ortega managed to knock out the former title holder within the first round for a stunning victory. The fighter has since been granted the right to a shot at the UFC featherweight title.
Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, Brian Ortega revealed that he plans on making a move up in weight to the UFC lightweight division if he defeats Max Holloway for the featherweight title.
“I’ve thought about it. We need the perfect match-up as far as a fight that I can really give the fans to see. Not just a regular match. I really want to give them a war and something crazy and something big, especially if I’m going to move up a weight class.”
“I’ve definitely thought about it. My goal is, if I’m successful against Max Holloway, I’m looking at some opportunities and things in the 155 division.”
