UFC megastar Conor McGregor has not competed inside the octagon since 2016. Now UFC President Dana White has come forward to give his thoughts on when the Irish native may make an octagon return.
“Notorious” mas not stepped inside the octagon since making UFC history be finishing Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title. Since then, McGregor has made his professional boxing debut.
The fighter faced off against undefeated pugilist legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. inside the squared circle in 2017, earning the payday of his career with a TKO loss to “Money” Mayweather. Still, Dana White is confident that “Notorious” will soon be making an octagon return.
As heard in the video below, White explained that he believes McGregor may return late this summer.
“Hopefully we’ll see him back in at either August or September.”
As far as which competitor McGregor will face off against, White believes it is between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
“Well, we have to see how things play out in that weight division. A lot of things are going to happen in the next several months in the 155 pound division. Coming up is going to be Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib and the winner of that is who I would like to see Conor fight next.”
UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov are finally set to face off for the undisputed title. The two mixed martial arts warriors will throw down at UFC 223.
The event will take place April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. UFC 223 will be available live on pay-per-view.
