Former senior campaign aide to President Donald Trump, Sam Nunberg has been making headlines as of late. Now the former aid to the President is quoting none other than UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
Following the announcement of his plans to ignore a grand-jury subpoena received from special counsel Robert Mueller, Nunberg has been making a series of media appearances. The former Trump aid recently sat down with Mckay Coppins of The Atlantic.
During the interview, Nunberg and Coppins had the following exchange.
“Can you report this?” he asked me at one point during our conversation, his voice taking on a gleeful tone. “You have to report this: The champ champ does whatever the fuck he wants.”
“The … who?” I asked.
“The champ champ!”
The statement is of course a quote from UFC superstar Conor McGregor. “Notorious” has made a career out of bombastic post-fight interviews.
However, McGregor’s interview directly after defeating Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 205 was perhaps one of the most memorable.
The fighter first said that he would like to take a moment to apologize, before switching things into high gear and screaming that he would like to apologize to “absolutely nobody, because the champ champ does whatever the f*ck he wants.”
McGregor became the UFC’s first and only simultaneous two division champion with his defeat over Eddie Alvarez.
