Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson have been getting into a heated rivalry as of late. Now Gustafsson has come forward with some critical statements concerning the former title holder.
Luke Rockhold recently suffered a rough knockout loss to Yoel Romero, a defeat reminiscent of the fighter’s title ending knockout loss to Michael Bisping. Directly after the fight, Rockhold revealed an interest in potentially moving up in weight to the light heavyweight division.
Alexander Gustafsson was quick to call out the fighter with some harsh words. Speaking on The MMA Hour, Gustafsson has now offered his thoughts on Luke Rockhold.
“First of all, he’s a good fighter, but he was saying a lot, that it’s easier to fight at 205 and just a lot of stuff.”
“It feels like, to him, he was going up in weight just to have an easier fight, more or less, and I just told him that’s not case and here I am. So basically he was the one who started all of this, and I just followed up on it.”
Speaking on Rockhold’s allegedly weak chin, Gustafsson revealed that he believes the fighter is susceptible to being knocked out.
“I just go by facts. That’s all we’ve seen so far. And he thinks an easy thing coming up to light heavyweight, but I’m there to welcome him.”
