Tough UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov is now set to finally face off against UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. With that in mind, it would appear that “The Eagle” may have quite a bit more to financially gain from the endeavor than his opponent.
“El Cucuy” and Nurmagomedov have been set to face off on a few occasions. However, the two mixed martial arts warriors never made it inside the octagon. Following debilitating weight cuts and injuries, each match up has been disappointingly cancelled.
That being said, Nurmagomedov and Ferguson are now set to fight for the undisputed UFC lightweight title at UFC 223. The live pay-per-view event will take place April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Ali Abdelaziz, manager to Nurmagomedov, recently sat down with MMA reporter Kevin Iole to discuss the upcoming match up. During the interview, Abdelaziz revealed that he believes Nurmagomedov will profit four times as much from the fight as Tony Ferguson will.
“I guarantee you Khabib will make four times as much money as Ferguson.” Abdelaziz stated. “I can guarantee you that. You can ask even the boss about that. The whole thing is that he’s the draw. He’s the guy making the money. Tony Ferguson, no one is buying his pay-per-view.”
