Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom Mackenzie Dern decided to try her skills at the sport of mixed martial arts back in 2016. On an undefeated five fight winning streak, the former ADCC champion made her octagon debut.
For the fight, Dern went toe-to-toe with Ashley Yoder. Dern managed to keep her undefeated strike alive by earning a split decision victory in the match up.
Now the former No. 1 ranked IBKJJF black belt is set to face off against Amanda Bobby Cooper at UFC 224. The exciting live pay-per-view event goes down May 12 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Speaking to Submission Radio, Dern offered her thoughts on how the fight will go down. In Conor McGregor fashion, Dern has provided a precise prediction for the match up.
“I know she has two losses by submission. So, I definitely know the girls she fought before, submission-wise, weren’t as good as I am on the ground, so I think this fight is gonna end up in submission. And my goal in this fight is not to be too much staying standing up (laughs). I don’t wanna stay too much standing up, I want to get the submission for Brazil, show like the real Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. So I’m gonna say submission.”
