UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and tough division contender Khabib Nurmagomedov are now finally set to throw down. This time, the two mixed art arts warriors are set to face off for the undisputed title. With that in mind, UFC superstar Conor McGregor has dropped a hint that he is potentially prepared to step inside the octagon if either fighter pulls out.
Nurmagomedov and “El Cucuy” have been scheduled to fight multiple times now. Still, the two fighters have yet to meet inside the octagon. Following bad weight cuts and worse injuries, each scheduled match up has been ultimately cancelled.
This time, however, Nurmagomedov and Ferguson are set to fight at UFC 223 for the undisputed UFC lightweight title. The live pay-per-view event goes down April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Conor McGregor is the reigning UFC lightweight champion at the time. However, the UFC has decided to strip the champion of his belt the moment Ferguson and Nurmagomedov touch gloves at UFC 223.
Given the history of cancelled fights between Nurmagomedov an Ferguson and McGregor’s recent interest in an octagon return, “Notorious” has now taken to social media to hint that he is ready to step up on short notice if need be.
Over Twitter, McGregor simply stated “Stay ready.”
Stay ready.
