Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is putting the UFC’s middleweight division in his rear view mirror, and has booked his return to the weight class he once ruled over.
The former champion dabbled at middleweight for two fights, both of them losses, and will now return to the UFC’s light-heavyweight division at UFC 225. Evans is pegged with welcoming Anthony Smith to the UFC’s marquee weight class.
ESPN broke the news this morning:
The UFC has added a light heavyweight bout between legend Rashad Evans and Anthony Smith to UFC 225 on June 9.
Officials confirmed the 205-pound matchup to ESPN on Monday. The UFC 225 event will take place at the United Center in Chicago.

Smith (28-13) is also moving up from middleweight. He’s 4-2 since signing with the UFC, including a knockout win against Hector Lombard.
The Nebraska native suffered a TKO loss to Thiago Santos in his last bout, at a UFC Fight Night event in Belem, Brazil.
