Mixed martial arts is a demanding sport. Competitors must train their minds and their bodies to peak condition in order to fight on the highest level. That being said, the third person in the cage certainly doesn’t have it easy either.
MMA referees are required to see everything at once, while simultaneously staying out of the fighters or the cameras way. When a corner can blatantly see an eye poke or a fighter illegally grabbing the fence, the referee may not have the same view of the action. Still, the referee has to make sure the rules are maintained and each competitor remains safe during the action. It’s a demanding job.
Well, this referee decided to forgo the rules and regulations and provide a smack down of his own when a fighter decided to get physical with him after a stoppage. Check out the brutal exchange within the video above.
