Colby’s Returning To Brazil For The Belt, Already Receiving Violent Threats From Brazilian Fighters

It has been made official that UFC welterweight Colby Covington and former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos are set to face off for the UFC interim welterweight title. Now a mixed martial arts veteran and Brazilian native has come forward with a heated statement concerning Covington and the recent news.

Colby Covington first drew ire from some of his fellow fighters and fight fans alike back at UFC Sao Paulo in Brazil. In his post-fight interview, after having earned a decision victory over Brazilian native Demian Maia, Covington called Brazil a “dump” and the arena crowd “filthy animals.”

Former UFC heavyweight champion and Brazilian native Fabricio Werdum would go on to assault Covington with a boomerang over the incident when the two crossed paths in Australia. Now Covington is set to face Brazilian native Rafael dos Anjos in the co-main event of UFC 224 for the UFC interim welterweight title, as reigning champion Tyron Woodley recovers from a shoulder surgery. More so, UFC 224 will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Now mixed martial arts veteran, former UFC competitor and Brazilian native Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva has taken to social media to seemingly issue a threat to Covington.

Translated, Silva stated “The first beating of him is already guaranteed on account of @rdosanjosmma we will wait after the fight.” It would appear that the former UFC competitor may not be satisfied with whatever occurs inside the octagon come UFC 224.
