Mixed martial arts veteran and Pride legend Mirko Cro Cop has come forward with some critical words concerning the legitimacy of UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson’s status as the pound-for-pound king of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“Mighty Mouse” is a dominant force of the mixed martial arts world. Having earned 11 consecutive title defenses, Johnson has broken former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s coveted title defense record and earned his place among the MMA greats.
With that in mind, former Pride champion and current Bellator MMA heavyweight Mirko Cro Cop does not seem to acknowledge the fighter for his No. 1 spot in the official UFC pound-for-pound rankings.
Speaking in a recent interview, as seen above, Mirko Cro Cop stated that Demetrious Johnson would allegedly be beaten in a fight by your average club or bar bouncer. Citing the massive size difference between flyweights and heavyweights, Cro Cop stated that he believes the heavyweight division is the only true weight class.
Cro Cop is now set to face off against Roy Nelson at Bellator 200. The highly anticipated fight card goes down May 25 inside the SSE Arena in Wembley, London.
