Undefeated UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov is gearing up to fight for the undisputed UFC lightweight title. Now the fighter has a few words concerning Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
Nurmagomedov is set to face off against UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 223 for the lightweight belt. The fighter was initially set to face Tony Ferguson.
But, Ferguson pulled out of the match on six days notice after suffering an injury. While Holloway stepped up on severely short notice to accept the fight, Nurmagomedov was aiming for a match against reigning UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, as seen within the video below, Nurmagomedov poked fun at McGregor for not stepping up on short notice by referencing the fighter’s recent advertisement deal with Burger King. Nurmagomedov then references McGregor’s latest fights as not being recent enough to grab his interest.
Among those mentioned, Nurmagomedov referenced McGregor’s fights against Nate Diaz as fights with “marijuana guy.” Diaz is a vocal advocate of cannabis use.
