It would appear that Conor McGregor may be looking to lock down a fight with newly crowned UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, even if it means giving up a massive payday.
Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor is facing misdemeanor and felony charges for a fracas that took place inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday, April 5. Following a confrontation between Khabib Nurmagomedov and McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov days before, “Notorious” decided to retaliate by taking a large entourage backstage of the center and allegedly attacking a bus in which Nurmagomedov and several other fighters were inside.
While McGregor is not due back in court until June 14 on a felony charge of criminal mischief and three misdemeanor counts of assault for the fracas, it would appear that “Notorious” is already targeting Nurmagomedov for his potential octagon debut.
News source Irish Mirror has reported that an undisclosed source close to McGregor’s camp has revealed that the Irish native is willing to fight for very little financial gain in order to expedite the chance of meeting Nurmagomedov inside the octagon.
“Conor is trying to do everything he possibly can to get back into the cage and wants Khabib no matter what it takes.” The undisclosed source stated.
“He has never wanted a fight so much.” They continued. “He doesn’t care about the money for once, he just wants to get this guy one on one as he feels this whole situation was caused by him and he wants to make him pay.”
“He would take this fight on for peanuts, he wants to make it happen.”
