Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is not terribly happy that the promotion elected to strip him of his title. Following a recent heated message from the fighter, Al Iaquinta is now firing back.
“El Cucuy” was initially set to face off against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed UFC lightweight title back at UFC 223. After injuring himself on just six days notice, Ferguson was pulled from the card.
Nurmagomedov would ultimately face Al Iaquinta in the main event of UFC 223. With the UFC having elected to strip Ferguson and McGregor of their respective lightweight titles, Nurmagomedov was free to fight for the undisputed belt.
Taking to Twitter, Ferguson let the world know his thoughts on the matter.
“Beats a non-full time fighter real estate agent ranked #11 on @ufc roster, and I get Stripped when same thing happened to @rjwhittaker1990 @teamkhabib run til’ November #PaperChump”
