With Fedor Emelianenko gearing up for his headlining heavyweight war against former UFC champion Frank Mir, the mixed martial arts legend has reportedly received a visit from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Emelianenko is set to headline the highly anticipated fight card of Bellator 198 tonight, April 28, by welcoming former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir to the Bellator MMA promotion. The Telegraph has since reported that FBI agents “knocked on his room” when attempting to make contact with Emelianenko on Wednesday, April 25.
The FBI agents have reportedly been moving back and forth from the fighter’s hotel since. It has not yet been revealed what the FBI’s interest in the mixed martial artist is.
However, some have speculated that Emelianenko is receiving the attention due to his ties to UFC President Donald Trump. The fighter competed for the Affliction organization while being promoted by Trump. Emelianenko would go on to knock out Andrei Arlovski in the first round at the event.
The New York offices and hotel apartment of President Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen were raided by FBI agents just weeks ago as part of the investigation initiated by Robert Mueller. While it is only speculation, Emelianenko’s connection to the U.S. President is quickly becoming a debated topic concerning the fighter’s recent visit from the FBI.
