Chaos struck the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on Thursday when a bus full of competitors for Saturday night’s UFC 223 was attacked by a group of individuals allegedly being led by UFC superstar Conor McGregor. Now an associate of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team has decided to provide a response.
Undefeated UFC lightweight contender Nurmagomedov and UFC featherweight Artem Lobov were initially each set to compete in different fights on the night’s card. The two competitors had an altercation within a hotel room that has seemingly become the source of the recent attack on one of the UFC’s buses.
Following the UFC 223 media day on Thursday, a group of Conor McGregor’s entourage was reportedly allowed access into a parking garage through The Mac Life’s media credentials. From there, the group discovered the bus in which Khabib Nurmagomedov and several other fighters were currently within and the fracas ensued.
Several items were thrown at the bus, including a dolly that smashed through a window and injured several fighters. The dolly was allegedly thrown by Conor McGregor, as captured within the video above.
Reports claim the incident may have been a retaliation on McGregor’s part for the previous altercation between Nurmagomedov and teammate Artem Lobov. Lobov has since been pulled from his fight at UFC 223 for his alleged involvement in the fracas.
Several fighters were injured, causing Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg to each be pulled from their UFC 223 match ups due to injuries sustained from the incident. Conor McGregor has since been taken into custody by local authorities and is facing three charges of misdemeanor assault and one felony charge of criminal mischief.
In a recently deleted post to his Instagram, a known Team Khabib associate posted a status in Russian that translated said, “All available men meet at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriot. ASAP!”
Khabib Nurmagomedov previously broke his silence on the incident. The fighter stated:
“I am laughing inside. You broke window? Why? Come inside. If you real gangster why don’t you come inside? This is big history gangster place. Brooklyn. You want to talk to me? Send me location. I am going to come. No problem.”
