Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson was close to a shot at the undisputed title back at UFC 223. Following an injury just six days before the event, the fighter was pulled from his title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Now “El Cucuy” has come forward with some heated words over the Dagestani native.
When Tony Ferguson was pulled from UFC 223 on just six days notice, Nurmagomedov was ultimately faced with Al Iaquinta inside the octagon for the night’s main event. Despite Iaquinta not even being ranked within the top ten of the division, the UFC elected to strip Conor McGregor of his UFC lightweight title and Tony Ferguson of his interim title in order to permit Nurmagomedov the ability to fight for the belt.
“The Eagle” put on a dominant performance over his opponent, ultimately earning a unanimous decision victory over Iaquinta. Taking to Twitter, Tony Ferguson has decided to offer his thoughts on the matter.
