If you ask UFC president Dana White, last week in the lead up to Brooklyn’s UFC 223 event was the worst of his entire career.
First, the UFC lost their headliner in Tony Ferguson. Four days later McGregor made an attack on the UFC fighter bus, resulting in the cancellation of three of the weekend’s bouts. And on Friday, Max Holloway was removed from his main event citing medical concerns.
It was definitely a rough week for the UFC, the fighters injured by Conor McGregor, and the UFC president in Dana White.
Now, in an attempt to avoid another Conor McGregor type raid on an event, the UFC has decided to beef up their fight week security.
This is likely a measure going forward.
Canada’s TSN has it, via a recent interview with weekend fighter Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson:
I spoke to Michelle Waterson earlier and she told me that the UFC has hired additional security in Arizona this week for extra precautions as a result of last week’s incident with Conor McGregor.
