Former UFC all-stars Roy Nelson and Mirko Cro Cop have now been locked in for a battle to place as the next Bellator MMA heavyweight grand prix alternate.
Bellator 200 is set to feature a heavyweight war between Mirko Cro Cop and Roy Nelson in the night’s main event. On Thursday, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker revealed that the winner between the two mixed martial arts veterans will earn a spot as an alternate on the heavyweight grand prix tournament.
“That will be for the first alternate spot,” Coker said. “Whoever wins will be the alternate for the tournament in case somebody gets injured.”
While Cro Cop was never in the tournament, Nelson was booted out of the grand prix after suffering a loss to UFC rival Matt Mitrione.
Bellator 200 goes down May 25 inside the SSE Arena in Wembley, London.
