And finally, the highly anticipated female strawweight scrap between Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Cooper took place in Rio, tonight as part of the UFC 224 main pay-per-view card.
In round 1, the two ladies took a measured approach to open things up, nothing significant landing in the first minute of the bout. But exactly at the 3:50 mark, Cooper landed a quick combo before backing back out. For the most part it was Cooper with the clean crisp punches, and Dern with looping power shots, trying to land over the top.
Then, Dern landed one of those big right hands, dropped Cooper, followed her to the mat. Quickly got the mount, choked her out.
