Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is looking to make his debut within the mixed martial arts promotion’s light heavyweight division. Following a tough injury, the fighter will no longer be competing on the UFC 227 fight card. However, it would appear Rockhold’s opponent is still set to compete.
UFC President Dana White originally revealed that Luke Rockhold was being set up to face off against former title light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227. However, Rockhold has since severely damaged his shin and will be recovering from the injury for some time.
Speaking at the UFC Fight Nigh 130 Post-Fight Press Conference, Dana White claimed that Alexander Gustafsson will now receive a new opponent for the fight card. However, the opponent has yet to be locked in.
UFC 227 will take place live on pay-per-view Aug. 4.
