Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is currently gearing up for another shot at the title. In the meantime, the fighter recently sat down for an interview with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani to discuss the time he was stabbed.
Cody Garbrandt is set to face off against reigning UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw in a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 227. The live pay-per-view event will take place Aug. 4 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Speaking on the latest edition of The MMA Hour, “No Love” delved into his past to discuss a moment when he was stabbed in a bar fight.
“I’m walking over bodies knocked out, trying to get to my car.” Garbrandt said. “This kid comes out of nowhere and was spouting off about how he’s been to prison and this and that. I told him, ‘Man, I don’t want no trouble. Just getting out of here.’
“He ended up stabbing me and I had to get staples.” The former title holder later continued.
