UFC women’s strawweight Mackenzie Dern put on a dominant performance inside the octagon over the weekend. Now the fighter has come forward to reveal that she was allegedly removed from her fight camp just weeks ahead of her match up.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom was featured on the live pay-per-view of UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday, May 12. For the fight, Dern went toe-to-toe with Amanda Cooper.
Dern dominantly defeated her opponent by earning a swift submission finish. Speaking to media at the UFC 224 Post-Fight Press conference, Dern touched on her issue making weight. The fighter missed weight by coming in a grand total of 7.4 pounds heavy.
More so, Dern revealed that she was allegedly kicked out of her training camp four weeks before the fight.
“I had something unexpected happen.” Dern said. “My former team, they let me go and had me leave the team four weeks before this fight. So, it was a big rush in California trying to find people and create a team.”
