UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has been campaigning for a rematch against former title holder Eddie Alvarez for some time now. Now the fighter has come forward to reveal that he has “said yes” to another offer to take on Alvarez.
Alvarez and Poirier first faced off back at UFC 211. Poirier appeared to be getting the better of his opponent when Alvarez landed a series of illegal knees to the head of Poirier.
The fight was ultimately called to a controversial no contest. Poirier has been calling for a rematch ever since.
Rather than have an immediate rematch, Alvarez went on to become a coach on The Ultimate Fighter alongside Justin Gaethje. The two mixed martial artists threw down inside the octagon for Alvarez’s latest match up.
Poirier is now riding a big win over Gaethje from UFC on FOX 29 and is looking to face Alvarez inside the octagon once more.
It has since been reported that the UFC is potentially looking to lock down the two fighters for UFC on FOX 30. However, nothing has yet been made official. Now Poirier has taken to Twitter to announce that he has accepted a fight offer against him yet again.
“I said yes again Edward.”
