Michael Bisping has called an end to his fighting career. While many of the sport’s notables have since come forward over social media to offer their tributes to “The Count” for his storied career within the sport, now one of Bisping’s greatest rivals has come forward with a few words.
Michael Bisping is a veteran of mixed martial arts. Winner of The Ultimate Fighter 3, Michael Bisping managed to fight his way to greatest within the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Having set the record for most UFC victories, “The Count” would go on to earn the UFC middleweight title before calling an end to his career. Following a title ending loss to Georges St-Pierre and a knockout defeat to Kelvin Gastelum, Bisping officially announced his retirement on Monday.
Taking to Twitter, fellow former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has since come forward to congratulate Bisping for his illustrious career. Weidman and Bisping, of course, have had a heated rivalry for some time now. Still, it would appear that Weidman has decided to set their differences aside in order to offer a tribute to the retired MMA veteran.
“Congrats to @bisping on his retirement ! He has accomplished so much in this sport and is def a future hall of famer! Unfortunately we never had the opportunity to fight in the octagon but it was a pleasure just to trash talk back and forth a few times ! Future is bright. Enjoy!”
