UFC welterweight Darren Till put on a victorious performance over the weekend. That being said, the fight did not go without its controversy.
Till missed weight for UFC Fight Night 130 by 3.5 pounds. Still, opponent Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson accepted a catchweight bout for their main event match up.
The two mixed martial artists ultimately went the distance, offering fight fans a highly technical striking exchange that ended in a razor close performance from both fighters. Still, Till walked away with a unanimous decision victory.
Taking to Twitter, MMA referee turned Bellator MMA commentator John McCarthy has come forward with his thoughts on the matter. Check it out below:
“Sorry but controlling the Octagon does not give you the round. @WonderboyMMA landed the cleaner harder shots in the first 3 rounds. Sad that people that are supposed to know about the sport are lacking greatly in their knowledge of what is scored in a round #AskBJM”
