Fedor Emelianenko Still Does Not Support Women Fighting In MMA

Fedor Emelianenko is a mixed martial arts legend. With that in mind, the heavyweight phenom has now come forward to once again show his lack of support for women’s MMA.

“The Last Emperor” is largely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time. However, back in 2015, the Russian fighter offered a shocking statement concerning WMMA.

Emelianenko referred to MMA as a “man’s sport,” claiming “there are a lot of other sports where women look like women.”

Well, Emelianenko has done it again. “The Last Emperor” is the president of the Russian MMA Union. Appearing at a recent press conference ahead of the Russian MMA Championships, Emelianenko stated “Personally, I am not a supporter of women’s fights.”

Russian female mixed martial artists continue to struggle to land professional fights within their home country. Russsian promotions M-1 Global, ACB, Fight Nights Global, and Akhmat MMA are just a few of the major organizations that have yet to offer an official women’s division.
