In Saturday Ratings War, Boxing Bests Both UFC 224 And Bellator 199

Last weekend, on May 12, a series of exciting match ups took place within the world of combat sports. With the ratings now in, there appears to be one event to rule them all.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday to host the highly anticipated fight card of UFC 224. Meanwhile, competing mixed martial arts promotion Bellator MMA was hosting the astounding card for Bellator 199 in San Jose, Calif.

As reported by BloodyElbow, both MMA events were beaten in the ratings by the highly anticipated boxing event for Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jorge Linares. The event averaged 1,024,000 viewers for its two hour showing.

UFC 224’s prelims, which aired live on FX, averaged 574,000 viewers. Bellator 199, which aired on Paramount, hit an average 453,000 viewers.
