In tonight’s second UFC 224 main card fight from Rio, bantamweight John Lineker and Brian Kelleher represented for the small guys.
In round 1, both men opted to keep things on the feet, slugging it out over a strong opening five minutes. And while it was Lineker who led the dance, Kelleher did land some solid counter hooks to let John know he’s still in there. Lineker though, dropped the New Yorker twice in the opening frame.
In round 2, both men opted to pick things up where they left off in round 1, and came out swinging. Two-minutes in and both were swinging back and forth in pure brawling fashion. With a minute left in the round, Lineker is all smiles in there, the clear winner up until this point in the fight.
In round 3, Lineker stepped off the gas a bit, and Kelleher was slowly working his way back into the fight. That all changed around two minutes into the round and Lineker just started driving forward. With 90 seconds left in the fight, Lineker landed a left hook that put the lights out on his opponent.
The Official UFC 224 Result:
Lineker def. Kelleher via knockout, Round 3.
