UFC superstar Nate Diaz has not competed inside the octagon since losing his rematch to former two-division champion Conor McGregor back in 2016. While rumors are swirling that Diaz is now looking to make an octagon return, it would appear that “Notorious” is not necessarily on his radar.
It is being reported that the Stockton native is in conversation with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) over a possible octagon return in August 2018. The fight card in mind would be UFC 227, which goes down Aug. 4. Of course, nothing has yet been made official.
Diaz shocked the world when he choked out Conor McGregor on short notice back at UFC 196, with McGregor earning a majority decision victory in their rematch.
Now longtime teammate Jake Shields has come forward to reveal that Nate Diaz is not necessarily looking for a trilogy rematch against McGregor. Speaking on the latest edition of The MMA Hour, Shields said:
“He’s not just looking for Conor. He’s looking for a fight that makes sense and that’s going to give him a big payday and a lot of hype.”
